What is the House Construction Cost?
A house construction cost calculator gives a quick per-square-foot estimate of what it will cost to build a home, broken down by major heads — civil structure, finishes, plumbing, electrical, fixtures and contingency.
Real costs depend heavily on city, material grade and labour rates; this tool gives a defensible starting figure for budgeting and bank loan discussions.
Formula
Total cost = Built-up area × Cost per sq.ft. × Quality factor
- Built-up area — Total constructed area in sq.ft.
- Cost per sq.ft. — City-level base rate (₹1,400–₹2,200 in 2024-25)
- Quality factor — Standard 1.0, premium 1.3, luxury 1.6
Step-by-step example
Setup: 1,500 sq.ft. built-up, ₹1,800/sq.ft. base, premium quality.
- 1,500 × 1,800 = ₹27,00,000
- × 1.3 quality = ₹35,10,000
Answer: Estimated build cost ≈ ₹35.1 lakh
